20 Things You Might Not Have Known About Minecraft

Here are 20 Minecraft things that you might not have known about!

Have you ever wanted to know more about Minecraft? Well, here, you have 20 whole Minecraft facts!

Number One

If you take a name tag, rename it to ‘jeb_’ on an anvil, then put the name tag on a sheep, it’ll become RAINBOW! Here is an example. Take note that the sheep changes to a different shade, and it goes through every colour. This picture was taken probably when the sheep was changing to cyan.

Number Two

Do you know Dinnerbone? The developer? Well, this feature was added, mainly because his skin was upside down, and it was NOT an accident. He liked it that way. There is a Minecraft feature for that. If you rename a nametag to ‘Dinnerbone’ on an anvil, then name your pet/animal using the ‘Dinnerbone’ nametag, your pet/animal will be turned upside down! This can work with any mob, from a cat to a ghast! Here’s an example:

And, even better, you can ride a horse with it’s name as Dinnerbone too! The only problem is that it looks awkward… I mean, riding on a horse’s leg! Imagine THAT!

Number Three

If you’d like to know about an entity that some find interesting, then keep reading! But if you’re scared of these things, I’d hate to give you nightmares (that sometimes I get too, but they usually don’t make sense), I suggest you skip this one. This is in-game, remember that! Otherwise, let’s go!

You see, there was once this YouTube video, where the YouTuber was walking up the stairs into his house, and he saw a Steve skin, but with pure white eyes. Remember, this is IN-GAME! The Steve chased him, all around the world. Until, finally, he got killed. On his Respawn Screen, the Steve skin looked flat. This Steve is now known as the famous ‘Herobrine’. We don’t know whether this is a myth or actually real, but I’ve got a reporting of a Steve skin in a cave before. That was YEARS ago, but I haven’t experienced it for myself yet. Here’s a picture of Herobrine.

Number Four

Remember those annoying Ghasts? Can’t find a way to kill them? Well, luckily, you might not have known this, but you can backfire fireballs back on those Ghasts!

When they shoot you, use your sword and click on the incoming fireball a few times. Aim properly, or else they’ll destroy your surroundings!

Number Five

Have you ever wondered about the origin of the Creeper?

This was actually an accident. When Notch, creator of Minecraft, was trying to make a pig mob, he accidentally rotated it the wrong way around. It looked weird, but Notch found the shape unique and nice, so he decided to keep it. Then, he changed the colour and texture a few times adding an exploding feature and finally, making the most iconic mob in Minecraft, the Creeper.

Number Six

Have you ever wondered about the use of a parrot?

You see, with a parrot on your shoulder (walk over the tamed parrot), or even not, a parrot mimics mobs around it. If there is a creeper nearby, the parrot would mimic something of a bush rustling, and I used to think it was an entity lurking nearby. But please, don’t be scared. With a parrot on your side, it can help you be aware of your surroundings!

Number Seven

Here’s a feature of a cute Minecraft mob, the Cat.

If your tamed Cat is standing, and it’s nighttime, go to sleep on a bed. If your Cat is in the same room, it’ll sleep on you! You can see for yourself on the sleeping screen!

Number Eight

Here’s another fact about the Minecraft Cat mob!

You probably think it’s useless, crouching and getting fish to tame a cat. But there are actually TWO useful features you can use with a single Cat!

It’s VERY useful to sleep with a Cat (see; Number Seven), especially if you’re too lazy to collect resources! Hey — are you one of those people who need some Phantom Membrane to repair your Elytra? Well, then, PERFECT! Even if you DON’T need some, they still give you things (well, just a 70% chance, but it’s still more than fifty! :D)! And, even better, more percentages (just joking, not better, but yes, percentages…)! There’s a 16.13% chance for a cat to give you Rabbit’s Foot, Rabbit Hide, String, Rotten Flesh, Feather, and Raw Chicken. Of course, in the 70%! Make sense? And for the Phantom Membrane, there’s a WAY lower chance! There’s a 3.22% chance that a Cat will gift you such a thing… Be happy, because you probably aren’t up for the job… Plus, it’s quite hard for a Cat — a CAT — to kill something that keeps running away! And it drops 0-1 Membrane ONLY for YOU! Unless you have the Looting enchantment, because Looting III can get you up to 4 Membranes! Plus, your Cat didn’t steal your sword or anything (please don’t tell your Cat that I let the secret go, if you have one)!

Number Nine

Ah, yes… Cats.

You must be wanting to know? Well, as we know, ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away,’ so possibly, ‘a Cat on your side, during the night, breaks up the fight, between you and the scared little Phantom,’?

So yes, a Cat, a TAMED one, scares away the Phantoms. Don’t sleep for a year, but with a Cat, you just live a normal Minecraft life. Don’t sleep for a decade, but with a Cat, you just live a normal Minecraft life. Don’t sleep for a century, but with a Cat, you just live a normal Minecraft life. Don’t sleep for a millenium, but with a cat, you just live a normal Minecraft life. Don’t sleep for an eon, but with — wait, are you still alive after an eon? I have no idea, help me search up on Google!

Number Ten

Here’s about Axolotls — Surely, you like them?

These poor animals are a real life thing, and right now, they’re critically endangered (unless you’re reading this when they’re extinct). But, in Minecraft, since Axolotls attack any other underwater mob (besides their own species), after they’ve dealt damage, finish off that mob it attacked. You’ll get Regeneration, but, not only that, but it’s also an achievement!

Number Eleven

Have you heard of NPCs? They stand for Non-Playable Characters. I’m not sure whether this works on the Java Edition of the game, but it sure works on Bedrock Edition! If you’re playing X-Box Edition, or Console Edition, I’m not sure too. But hey, Bedrock Edition players, here’s something for you!

Did you know that you can get NPCs in VANILLA Minecraft?! It’s just a simple command. (Remember for Bedrock Edition, but if you have other editions, I’d be interested to know whether it works or not.) This is the command (I think). Go into the chat and type these EXACT words and symbols:

/give @p spawn_egg 64 51

If I’m not wrong, that should give you a stack of ‘Spawn NPC’s. Explore — here’s a tip; you can click all the buttons, leading to a command button!!

Number Twelve

You think I’ve run out of ideas, but I haven’t. Maybe. Wait a second, I need some time to think. Wait here, will you?

Ah-HA! I found one!

This might be a lame one, but who cares?

Here — Did you know, that you can actually dye a dog’s collar? If you tame it, hold the chosen dye in your hand, and then click the ‘Dye’ button (in Bedrock Edition) or hold on the dog (also in Bedrock Edition). In Java Edition, however, you must right-click with the chosen dye colour in hand.

Number Thirteen

No, please! Must I do another eight? Well, then, if I must.

It’s an old one, but still! Anyway, you can put a carpet on Llamas. Depending on what colour you choose, it has a different pattern! After you ride the Llama, get its trust (you’ll know it has if you see heart particles), and put the carpet on, you’ll realise it’s quite useless because you can’t control it’s movements. Like, if you put a green carpet on a Llama, there’ll be a Creeper design, but if you put a pink carpet on a Llama, there’ll be a pink cream with rainbow sprinkles (I’m hungry now I’ve heard that) design, or if you put a grey carpet on a Llama, there’ll be a bandit (even with the eye mask!) design, but if you put a light grey carpet on a Llama, you’ll get a light coloured bandit costume without the eye mask, but instead two bracelets on each paw. Phew! That was a lot of explanation!

Number Fourteen

Since tamed Parrots can’t eat seeds or anything, you think they can’t eat anything.

BEEP! WRONG! They can actually eat COOKIES, but trust me, you don’t want to try it (by ‘don’t’, I actually mean TRY. But it’s not fun to look at, unless you’re Parrot hater.) If you don’t want to try, giving them cookies actually effect them with poison. And they don’t leave off with half a heart (I think), they DIE.

Number Fifteen

What about something simple?

Well, you can attach chests onto Mules, Donkeys and Llamas! Simply just right click, but if on Bedrock, hold onto the animal or click the ‘Attach’ button. Remember, they only work for these three! And, don’t forget to have the chest in-hand!

Number Sixteen

This is already known a lot, and it’s about Axolotls.

Axolotls can actually play dead, in which they freeze. At that same time, they’ll get effected with Regeneration, and while they play dead, attacking mobs, such as Drowned, will actually stop attacking!

Number Seventeen

I found this one out a year ago, but if you smelt Netherrack in a furnace, you actually get Nether Brick! It’s a tip for those who can’t find a Nether Fortress, but need Nether Brick! Problem is, you still need to go to the Nether…

Number Eighteen

Another one about smelting.

If you smelt Clay (not blocks), you can get Bricks! Using Bricks, you can craft all sorts of stuff, from Brick Blocks to Flower Pots!

Number Nineteen

This is something to learn from both Minecraft Java Edition and Minecraft Bedrock Edition.

Armour Stands. In Minecraft Java, their Armour Stands don’t have arms! Meaning they can’t hang their weapons! Compared to Minecraft Bedrock, their armour stands have arms, in Vanilla, meaning they can hang their weapons up!

Number Twenty

FINALLY! Okay, so I don’t know what to write, never mind.

Ah-ha! For Beacons, you can actually colour them. Most people use Stained Glass, but others use Stained Glass Panes intead. In this case, people won’t see the glass, because the beacon line is covering it!

BYEBYE!
