How to begin successfully in a Minecraft world
Starting a Minecraft world can indeed be hard, whether it’s food shortages, mob attacks, fires, lack of resources, raids, anything. This tutorial hopefully solves your problems.
Food Shortages:
Food can be a huge problem early-game. If there’s a taiga biome nearby, collect the sweet berries. When they grow, do not eat them. Instead, plant more. You will soon find out how many of these fruits you get and how little time they need to grow.
Method 2: If there’s a village nearby, even better. Collect the hay bales and turn them into bread. Your food crisis is solved for a while, giving you enough time to build a source of food.
Method 3: Growing plants and eating them are a good food source, but the saturation and hunger restored from them are terrible. It can also take time to find the seeds, etc.
Method 4: (Baked) Potatoes are one of the best sources of food. It’s great food type, restoring a pretty good amount of hunger and has a fair amount of saturation. It’s cheap and efficient to grow, just need some fuel to bake them.
Method 5: Animal Hunting: Hunting for animals is a pretty good food source too, although it takes a fair amount of time to kill them, and doesn’t work in certain biomes as certain mobs don’t spawn in them or at night. It can be a dangerous way to gather food as sometimes you may chase the mob into a hostile mob, lava, ravines, huge drops, etc. You may also use more hunger chasing the mob than you gather.
Method 6: Automatic Farms are a great way to get food, the only problem is that such a large project is not achievable too early into the game.
Mob Attacks:
Mobs can be a major problem early game. Here are some solutions:
Method 1: Defending your base with traps and defences such as sweet berries, redstone traps, Iron golems, etc,
Method 2: Lighting up an area will prevent most hostile mobs from spawning there.
Method 3: Using mobs to make you rich is a great way to use those mobs! Lure them into a trap with turtle eggs, and put opened trapdoors where they’ll walk through. They should fall through the trapdoor. Make a hole under it and use something to kill them (e.g: falling). Then use a hopper to collect their drops, and connect the hopper to a chest.
Exploring the Nether:
Method 1: Bring little to the nether. Only bring essentials, such as food and tools. Only bring things that you can afford to lose. Then, take a screenshot (or write down) your nether portal coordinates.
Method 2: Bring essentials only, but this time, bring some powerful equipment. Be careful though – if you die, the whole thing fails. Explore safely, and remember to bring stacks of cobblestone. Find a fortress and find a Blaze Spawner. Then eat a golden apple while fighting them for the first time. Once you have 4 Blaze Rods, find nether wart and magma cream. Brew fire resistance potions and fight more blazes (while having fire resistance)
Exploring the Overworld:
Method 1: Bring your top gear. Collect, mine, and pillage as you get better items. When you have lots of loot, bring it home.
Method 2: Bring equipment that you can afford to lose. Bring essentials and collect resources. Bring them home once you have enough.
Building a base:
Method 1: If you’re low on resources and want to build something that can last for the night, just mine into a mountain or hill. Make a 5x3x5 area and add a door. That’s an easy base to build and requires minimal resources.
Method 2: Gather wood and cobblestone, and start building a proper house. Eventually, you can keep on expanding it and adding more detail when you have more resources.
