Minecraft was made in 2009. It was fully released in 2011. That’s a pretty long time ago. This article talks about 2011+.
2011:
August 16: Minecraft: Pocket Edition officially released
November 11: Minecraft Beta ends
November 18: Minecraft: Java Edition is officially released
2012:
January 12: 1.1 update released
March 1: 1.2.1 released (1.2.0 was skipped)
May 19: Stampylonghead creates his lovely world. A Minecraft YouTube legend is born
June 1: Minecraft LEGO is released. It’s also Notch’s birthday.
August 1: 1.3 released
October 25: Minecraft 1.4.2 is released (1.4.0 and 1.4.1 were skipped)
2013:
March 13: 1.5 is released
April 1: Minecraft 2.0 is announced as an april fools’ joke
April 5: Minecraft surpasses 10 million sales
July 1: 1.6.1 released (1.6 was skipped)
October 25: 1.7.2 released (1.7.0 and 1.7.1 skipped)
December 17: Minecraft Playstation 3 1.0 released
2014:
April 1: As an april fools’ joke, all skins are turned into villager skins and cannot be changed throughout the day
May 19: Realms is released to the world
September 2: 1.8 is released
September 14: Minecraft PS4 released
September 15: Minecraft Xbox One released
September 2: 1.8 is released
September 15: Minecraft and Mojang is sold to Microsoft
November; 5: Notch leaves Mojang. The future of Minecraft is now in the hands of Microsoft
2015:
Feb 4: You can now change your username in Minecraft!
April 1: As an april fools’ joke, snapshot 15w14a is released
July 29: Pocket Edition ends. Now it’s called Bedrock edition, and it supports Windows 10
October 15: Episode 1 for Minecraft Story Mode released
17 December: Wii U Edition Released
2016:
February 29: Minecraft 1.9 is released. Many players leave the PvP community, and Minecraft e-sports is cancelled. PvP is changed forever
April 27: Minecraft is released for Samsung Gear VR
June 8: 1.10 released
November 1: Minecraft: Education Edition released.
November 14: 1.11 released
December 19: Pocket Edition 1.0.0 officially released
2017:
May 11: Nintendo switch officially released
June 7: 1.12 released
September 20: Minecraft Pocket Edition becomes Bedrock Edition. Better Together is released, and now Pocket Edition and a few other editions can now play together.
September 20: Minecraft is released for Xbox One
2018:
May 16: Phase One of Update Aquatic (1.13) is released for bedrock
June 21: Bedrock Edition is released on nintendo switch
July 10: Phase Two of Update Aquatic (1.13) is released for bedrock
July 18: 1.13 is released on Java Edition
2019:
April 23: 1.14 released
June 25: Story Mode: Minecraft: Story Mode Season 1 & 2 took down from stores and stopped being supported
October 17: Minecraft earth released
December 3: 1.15 released
2020:
February 29 – This is the first leap day on which no new game version was released; 2012 had 1.2 and 2016 had 1.9.
May 17: Mojang turns 11, refreshes their logo, and changes their name to Mojang Studios
May 26: Minecraft dungeons released
June 23: 1.16 released
October 1: Steve is announced for super smash bros
October 21: Mojang says that all mojang accounts migrated to microsoft ones will get a cape
December 1: All minecraft accounts require a microsoft one
2021:
June 8: Caves and cliffs: Part I released
June 30: Minecraft Earth discontinued because of Covid-19
July 13: World generation experimental gameplay released for bedrock
November 30: Caves and Cliffs: Part II released
December 15: Minecraft surpasses one trillion views on YouTube. It’s the first ever franchise on social media to reach this milestone
