Taming:

A player can tame a wolf by right-clicking (PC/Windows10), holding part of the screen which the wolf is at or by facing it and clicking the “tame” button.(Pocket Edition), or using the right trigger (Console Editions) while a bone is held in a player’s hand. It could take 1 bone if you’re lucky (well actually it’s pretty common) or 6 if you’re really REALLY unlucky (in short, it could take anything from 1-6 bones). You’ll know a wolf has been tamed if he has a red collar around his head.

Uses:

Well, a good way to use these pets is by making sure they’re not in sit mode and punch an animal! They’ll try to kill it, so you basically have the laziest farming method! They can also be used as a bodyguard against mobs. They DESTROY skeletons, and by destroy I mean it. They can deal with zombies pretty well, and don’t disturb creepers, which is kind of a good thing because if they tried to attack them wolves would probably be extinct.

Things to take note of:

•Never bring wolves to the nether or end. You’ll only get them killed

•Bring your wolf out for exploring, rather than keeping them at home all the time

•Wolves are great against skeletons, including wither skeletons

•Remember to not be so paranoid about your wolf dying, because they were at least useful
